Verunas> Savages> maneaters.

Verunasi are here! : D
Just a couple of teasers though.
Savage are the usually primitive tribes of the super-intelligent verunas. Maneaters are the arch-nemesis of human survivors fallen into the wrong planets.

Made to build up backstory for the upcoming MMORTS game Novus AEterno by Taitále Studios.

But would humans and verunas be biologically compatible?
Reply
:iconiririv:
Surprisingly they are, CHON chemistry is quite... convenient.. carbon has just the right number of electrons in its outer shell to be very versatile and not unlikely to be the base of other alien biologies.
The fact that the tides of verunasi empires have terraformed so many planets to their convenience for millions of years made it possible for later human empires to settle on these planets as they laid abandoned.

They are great, but I miss some sort of scale reference on the last one. Are they all around the same size?

:iconiririv:
No, the last one is actually a different species and its huge. You can see its standing on the remains of a poacher engine from the human hunters.

a different subspecies or a different species, likeley from their homeworld, alltogether?
Reply
:iconiririv:
A different species from their homeworld, thats right.

:iconchardor:
so is it save to assume that the monsterous wildlife of their homeworld is used as beasts of burden and/or war?
Reply
:iconiririv:
Hardly, they kinda fear/revere their own wildlife. The most advanced verunas cultures on the other hand just rather building machines, so thats about it.

well i thought about it because the veruna have been stated to have used slaves so i figured using creatures or even sentients from their homeworld would fit right in.
Is there any reason for them abandoning this parctice btw? By that i mean slaves.

Yea, robots are cheaper, stronger, more reliable and.. usually don't revolt.
